Don I. Phillips, Sr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Donald Irvin Phillips, Sr. 81, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. John Harp will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Don was born on March 23, 1935 in Muldraugh, PA to Charles Phillips and Lorraine Gass Phillips Miller and passed away suddenly on April 5, 2016. Don played professional baseball with Shreveport Sports. Played fast pitch softball and was a member of the Madden Construction Company team, which went to the World Competition. Bowling was a huge part of his life and he loved it. At one time Don owned a baseball card shop and was the owner/operator of Rainbow Sno for over 30 years in the same location. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Fred Miller. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Judy Shellhammer Phillips; son, Don Phillips, Jr. and wife, Malinda Phillips; daughter, Kimberly Ann Rainer and husband, Mattson Rainer; Don is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honoring Don as pallbearers will be Ben Gorena, Nick Gorena, James Smiley, Jeffrey Lentz, Chris Green, and Joe Spruell.
