Donald Ray Ceccarelli, Sr.

HOMER, LA: Funeral services will be held for Mr. Donald Ray "Chic" Ceccarelli, Sr., 76, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th Street, in Homer on Friday, December 19, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Sellers and Rev. Caroll Holmes, officiating. Interment will follow at Homer Arlington Cemetery. Chic was born June 15, 1938 to Americo and Edna Louise Price Ceccarelli in Dos Palos, CA. He entered into rest Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Homer Memorial Medical Center following a short illness. Chic served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, a detective for the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office with over 25 years of service, as well as the U.S. Marshall Office. He and his wife, Shirley, were longtime members of the Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Lisbon. They loved to travel and visited all 50 states and Canada. A former longtime volunteer fireman, Chic was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as enjoyed woodworking and tinkering. Chic was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Shirley Owens Ceccarelli; and one brother, Norman Ceccarelli. He is survived by one daughter, Renee Heard and husband Ken of Homer; one son, Don Ceccarelli, Jr., and wife Melody of Homer; nine grandchildren, Andrea Gaston, Allison Heard, Audrey Emerson and husband Brad, Pamela Ceccarelli, Jonathan Ceccarelli, Ansley Heard, Ayden Heard, Jacob Ceccarelli and Jackson Ceccarelli; nine great-grandchildren, Cason, Carter, Sadie, Maddy, Laiken, Ryder, Brogan, Sawyer and Owen; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Ken Bailey, Weyland Smith, Randy Lewis, David Nokes, Brad Emerson and Eric Gaston. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Lewis, Rex Young and Brady Scriber. For friends considering memorials honoring Chic, his family suggests Claiborne Academy or Rocky Springs Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Audrey Cooper, Lisa Moore, Shakira Moore, Iris Fair and Morgana Burch for the love and care shown to Mr. Chic.
