Shreveport, LA - Donald Lloyd Hall Sr., loving husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and friend passed away on January 12, 2016 after a short illness.
Lloyd was born July 15, 1933 in Bay Minette, AL to Lois Slocomb Hall and Milton Hall. He was raised in Mobile, AL attending Murphy High School and later attending Auburn University. He served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographer in Orleans, France. He married the love of his life, Dot, and had two sons, Don Jr. and Brad.
He moved his family to Shreveport in 1962 and worked in the finance business. After working for a company owned finance business he left and opened Hall Financial Services, retiring in 1999.
Lloyd and Dot's love of traveling took them to many countries in Europe singing with the First United Methodist Church Choir of Shreveport, LA. In the past several years he loved hiking in the Swiss Alps in a small village of Kanderstag, Switzerland with friends and leader, Ray Branton.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Lois and Milton Hall, two brothers, Mac Hall and Bobby Hall.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dot, sons, Don Jr. and wife Lynda, Brad and wife Sonni, four grandchildren, Jennifer Hall, Doug Hall, Lauren Metzger, husband Justin, Callie Hall and two great-grandchildren, Brody and Presley Hall.
A Memorial Service honoring Lloyd\'s life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhodes and Dr. Will Andress.
Reception will follow at the church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont, ICU, and especially Cheryl Thomas, RN. She has become one of our family and we will always remember her compassion and love.
