Donald Glenn Hamersky

Donald Glenn Hamersky, 87, passed away on September 01, 2024. When he put down his roots in Shreveport over 60 years ago, he made it his home forever.

Some of you may know him as Don and some of you know him as Glenn. Either way, he was a kind and wonderful man and a loyal and dependable friend.

Glenn was preceded in passing by his loving wife of 56 years, Anice Hamersky; brother, Kirk; and sister, Janet. Glenn is survived by his children, Lenard Hamersky and Annette Hamersky Colyar; grandchildren, Cynthia Colyar, Christopher Colyar and wife Carolyn Colyar, Megan Hamersky and husband Matt King, and Nicole Hamersky Johnson and husband Travis Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Charlie, Lillian, Adeline, and another on the way. 😊

A keen tinkerer, his first career was as a mechanic for Boeing working on B-52s. His second career was as a Master Mechanic at a Chevy dealership. When he wasn't on the clock you would still probably find him reading a technical manual, taking something apart, or putting it back together. He was always willing to teach and to fix, taking care of his family's and friends' needs.

Glenn’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all his friends who cared so much for him.

A visitation is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. A private interment will follow on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or any other breast cancer charity of your choice in memory of his beloved Anice.
