Donald "Bud" Wayne Wood

Funeral services for Donald "Bud" Wayne Wood, 80, will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Bistineau Baptist Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana. A visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Bud was born on September 22, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Johnnie Robert Wood and Lessie Taylor Wood and passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Shreveport. Bud was a resident of Shreveport and graduated from Northwestern College where he majored in Art and English. He retired from the Louisiana State Department of Education where he taught Art. He was an Artist in Residence in Louisiana for four years. He also retired from the Texas Retirement System where he taught Art as well. Bud served his country in the Marine Corp for four years. Bud is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Andrea Solis Wood; sister, Diane Wood LaFarlette; brother-in-law, Tommy Drew Weaver; and nephews, Skip L. Barnhill and Shawn Barnhill. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Vera Wood Weaver; nephews, Kimmble Drew Weaver and Tommy Scott Weaver; great-nieces, Amanda W. Lowery, J. Amanda Bolding, Jill W. Jones and husband, Casey; great- nephews, Taylor Scott Weaver and wife, Kyren, Chase B. Barnhill and wife, Amber; and many great-great nephews and cousins that were near and dear to his heart. The family would like to express our heartfelt love and special thanks to our nephew, Chase Barnhill. He watched over Bud, checked on him and prayed with him daily. We will always appreciate and remember him and his loving heart.
