Donald Rankin passed away on September 5, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers for several years. He was 81 years old as he was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1935.
Donald accomplished so much during his lifetime, obtaining a B.A. degree from Louisiana College in Pineville, LA and also continued courses at University of New Orleans and Liberty University. He was head of Blind Services in the Caddo Parish area when he retired. He also worked for Schumpert Hospital at the same time.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Margie Savill Graham Rankin; son, Christopher Warren Graham and wife Krystal; daughter, Joan Rankin White and husband Jeffery; grandchildren, Chad W. Graham, Ryan Graham, Elizabeth Moore, Johnathan Moore, Noah Scott White and Chase Allen White. He was preceded in death by his children, Scott Randolph Rankin and Karen Ann Graham; parents, Frank Elmore and Candace V. Rankin; siblings, Dan Rankin, Paul Rankin, Jeannette Byers, Ruth Rankin, Eleanor Martin, Charles Rankin, Margaret Garvey, David Rankin, James Rankin, Frank Rankin, and Louis Rankin.
Services honoring his life will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Curtis Spears. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Pelican Cemetery, Pelican, Louisiana. A reception will follow the burial service in Pelican. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
