Donnie Kay Richards

Donnie Kay Thomas Richards was born July 14, 1952 to Benton Whitfield Thomas and Helen Burns Thomas after a hurried race with the Stork. She departed this life on July 25, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her family by her side was granted the privilege to watch the angels from heaven open their arms and welcome the newcomer. Kay was a native of Shreveport, graduating from Woodlawn High School. She later became a longtime resident of the Keithville/Spring Ridge area. She leaves behind a world of great memories and stories for our family to share for generations to come. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful Christian, loved by all. Among her attributes, she possessed a great sense of humor, generous to a fault, and completely unselfish. She loved cooking and fishing, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy in her senior years. Kay was a member of Keithville First Baptist Church and the Jewel Ladies Class until her husband was diagnosed with leukemia and she became a victim of dementia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Helen Thomas. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 39 years. Eddie Richards; sisters. Joyce Kitts, Judy Dickson and husband, Bill; daughters, Tina Doerr and husband, David, Staci Kea and husband, Craig; grandchildren, Jordan Guillory and husband, Cody, Raegan Mitchell, Jake Broadway and wife, Rainey, Chasiti Ferguson; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside. Services will be held Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside with Reverend Mike Stowell officiating. Interment will be at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville.

Honoring Kay as pallbearers are Justin Davis, Terry Burns, Tommy Burns, Hayward Burns, Craig Burns, Robert Burns, and Vick Burns.
