Dora Lewis Ray

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Dora Lewis Ray, 89, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Larry G. Earl. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Dora went home to be with the Lord after a short illness. A life-long resident of Shreveport, Dora had many different occupations during her life and was currently enjoying retirement. Her home was always a gathering place for family and friends. Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Allen Ray, Sr.; her parents, Michael Lewis and Catherine Leon Lewis and son, Michael Charles Ray. Survivors include a son, Walker Allen Ray, Jr.; daughters, Doreen (Dee) Burdick and Melody Roussel; sisters, Joni Little and Jan Weaver; twenty-one grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to thank Frances Roussel for her loving support in Dora's last hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the Ark la Tex Crisis Pregnancy Center, 921 Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71105.
