Doris Smith Hare

A Celebration of Life service for Doris Smith Hare will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 in the chapel at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Tom Harrison. 

Doris was born in Ruston, Louisiana on October 6, 1925 and we were blessed to have her for an amazing 98 years. Doris went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024. 

Doris loved God and this was apparent by the way she lived her life. Doris was a true southern belle, she was always dressed to a tee and always looked stunning. She was an amazing cook and she loved cooking for her family. Nanny was the best grandmother ever and loved her grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Garnet Gardner; siblings, Lenara Thomas, Garnet Franke, Marie Null, Betty Martin and Jeff Gardner; husband of 49 years, Jewitt Smith and later, Jack Hare. Left to cherish her memory are her three beautiful daughters, Karen Harders and husband, Hans, Diane Westcott and husband, Butch and Jean Weathersby; grandchildren, Kim Robertson, Carol Beadles, Christy Yoder, Sheila Vuckovic and Brian Westcott and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for their support and care during this difficult time. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Student Ministry Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, LA 71105. 

Doris, Mom, Nanny, what a footprint you have left on our lives. You will be in our hearts forever. May you rest in peace, you will be missed. We love you.
