Doris (Lorraine) Valentine Reeves

Doris (Lorraine) Valentine Reeves, 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on November 26, 2023. She was born on September 30, 1940 in Dry Prong, Louisiana to William Valentine and Opal Blankenship.

Doris attended Fair Park High School in Shreveport. She enjoyed going to the Louisiana Hayride where she danced with her sister, kissed Elvis, and fell in love with Larry Lee Bivens who she later married and had three children with. Her first job was a Soda Jerk at Woolworth. Afterwards she began her lifelong career as a receptionist greeting patients at various medical centers. She spent several years as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Doris appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping with her children. Later she loved spending time with her granddaughters more than anything. Doris was a proud, strong, independent woman who loved the Lord and prayed endlessly for her children and grandchildren. And she LOVED LSU and Saints football!

Doris is preceded in death by her mother, Opal Blankenship; fathers, William Valentine and Winston Blankenship; daughter, Donna Marie Bivens; brothers, Loyd Valentine and Allen Blankenship; sister, Melba Simmons; and great grandson, baby Dustin Lothner. Left to cherish her memory include her son, Donald Lee Bivens; daughter, Stephanie Lynn Duran (Shane); granddaughters, Brittni Linder (Jeff), Brianna Cook (Kevin), Jessica Lothner (Judson), Rikki Bush (Chris), and Savannah Mayfield; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Valentine (Pam), Danny Valentine (Renee), and Lindell Valentine (Robbie); and sisters, Debbie Graham (David), Madonna Kelly, and Janet Trimble (Roger).

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, Louisiana.Funeral services honoring the life of Doris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Dennis Aaron. Interment will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. Honoring Doris as pallbearers will be Chris Bush, Jeff Linder, Carson Linder, Jackson Linder, and Logan Poland.
