Dorothea was born on October 20, 1930 in Woodville, Texas to Frank E. Wheeland and Evilene Mills Wheeland. Dot grew up in a sawmill community near Chireno, Texas called Sutton Lumber Company, where her Father was employed. This is where she met the love of her life Floyd.
In the early part of the 1950s, Dot settled in Logansport, Louisiana with her husband Floyd Smith and their two boys. This would be where she raised her boys and set down her roots. Her spouse Floyd was one of a large family of Smith\'s and Galloway\'s from the Bethel Community, so they had love and support of extended family. Dot, as everyone called her, worked at the local Western Auto store for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Logansport. She was a faithful supporter of the LHS football team and attended the games to root on her son\'s Larry and Kenneth. She loved cooking for her family, especially on Sundays. She made the best Fresh Coconut Cake you could possibly taste. Dot had many talents, but Her favorite was crocheting afghans and doilies, and making Cabbage patch dolls for her grandchildren and many other girls in the Community. She will be missed by her loving family, but we know she is smiling with Jesus and her loved ones in Heaven
