A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Louise Behrendt will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Mark Watson. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., immediately followed by a Rosary, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Dorothy was born in River Rouge, MI on February 15, 1942 and died April 29, 2018 at her home in Bossier City. She was lovingly surrounded by her family at the end of a bravely fought battle with cancer. Dorothy was a devoted Air Force wife during her husband's 22 years of service. She loved her life as a wife, homemaker and mother of seven. She also held several jobs and retired from working at the BAFB Commissary.
Dorothy was preceded in death 11 months ago by her husband of 56 years, Richard H. Behrendt. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Isabella Ruelle; brothers, Russell Ruelle and Bill Ruelle and a sister, Catherine Lozon. She is survived by her sons, Richard Behrendt and wife, Kelly of Aurora, CO, Robert Behrendt and wife, Missy of Haughton, David Behrendt and wife, Amy and Joseph Behrendt and wife, Tammie, all of Bossier City; daughters, Diana James, Kim Wilkerson and husband, Phillip, all of Blanchard, Pamela Tamburo and husband, Michael of Bossier City; 17 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by one brother, David Ruelle and wife, MaryAnn; one sister, MaryAnn St. Amant; brother-in-law, Stan Lozon and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family, whether for a big holiday gathering, going out to dinner or just watching television. She loved being a part of Christ the King Church in Bossier City. Her faith sustained her throughout her life. She is with the Lord now and is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven; she will be greatly missed.
