Funeral services will be held for Dorothy Faye Tipton Simpson on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Alabama Baptist Church in Arcadia, Louisiana. Graveside services will follow at Alabama Baptist Cemetery in Arcadia. Officiating the going home celebration will be Bro. Stephen Beard.
Dorothy Faye was born on August 8, 1931, in East Point, LA in Red River Parish. She went to be with her Lord on August 20, 2024, at the age of 93.
Dorothy Faye graduated from Ringgold High School where she played basketball and met Calvin Simpson at a game in Arcadia. They were married on November 1, 1950. She became a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a member of Alabama Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Secretary since 1957.
Dorothy Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Simpson, daughter, Ginger Simpson Crowell Driskill and granddaughter, Angela Simpson. Also, her parents James and Ella Mae Leshe Tipton.
Dorothy Faye is survived by her son, Jerry Lane Simpson and wife Pam and daughter, Rhonda Joan Ragsdale and husband Steve. Her grandchildren, Ashley Simpson Thomas Teekell and husband Johnny, Holly Simpson Calhoun and husband Scott, Summer Simpson Bourn and husband Thomas, Bridget Crowell Langley and husband Eric, Cody Crowell and wife Jayme. She also has many great grandchildren including Landri Thomas, Caden Cole, Lane Thomas, Luke Thomas, Levi Hicks, Dylan Spain, Tory Martin, Payton Calhoun, Ashlyn Bourn, Avery Bourn, Anna Grace Bourn, Ethan Langley and soon to arrive baby girl Crowell. Also, one great-great grandchild, Ava Lane Cole.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Alabama Baptist Church in Arcadia on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to Alabama Baptist Church.
The family extends a special thanks to Bernice Roberson for her care.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Spain, Lane Thomas, Luke Thomas, Levi Hicks, Caden Cole, Ethan Langley, and Landon Verdin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lane Simpson, Steve Ragsdale, Cody Crowell, Thomas Bourn, Scott Calhoun, and Eric Langley.
