HOMER, LA: Graveside services were held for Mrs. Dorothy Fielder Hanna Ferguson, age 91, at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, LA, on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., officated by Dr. Pat Bates. The family received friends at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Saturday, from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Ferguson was born on February 26, 1929, in Summerfield, LA, to William A. and Lou Selma Brown Fielder. She entered into rest on Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Ferguson was employed with Claiborne Parish School Board where she taught in Haynesville and Homer schools for over 30 years. She was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma for over 25 years, as well as, Claiborne Parish Teacher's Association, Alpha Service Club, and Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Ferguson loved her former students, but most of all she dearly loved her children, grandchildren and her Savior
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John L. Ferguson, Jr.; two sons, Scott Atlee Ferguson and Randall Craig Hanna; two sisters, Jean Bass and Mary Jo Zappa; and brother, Alton Brown Fielder.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Ferguson Stewart and husband Paul of Troy, MO; son, Kerry Hanna and wife Sandy of Homer, LA; sister, Janis Daniels of Summerfield, LA; five granddaughters, Lori Hamilton of Athens, LA, Brittany Stewart of Fort Collins, CO, Kassi Hanna, Phoenixville, PA, Vicki Tate of Conroe, TX and Amy Stewart of Charlotte, NC; four great-grandsons, Austin, Ayden, Matthew and Dylan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Keith Owens, Paul Stewart, Austin Hamilton, and Jimmy Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Ferguson, her family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
