Dot was born on March 4, 1930 in Elysian Fields, TX to E.B. and Lizzie Bell Woodley Mercer and passed away peacefully on November 12, 2015. Dot fulfilled her lifetime dream, graduating from nursing school in 1950 and becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in 1965. She worked for Confederate Memorial Hospital, Willis Knighton Health System, and retired from Steen Hall Eye Institute. She spent most of her time caring for family, friends, and anyone who needed her. She was a giving and generous person with her time and her talents. She enjoyed water skiing, teaching any who wanted to learn. She had a knack for telling great stories and as everyone knows, she loved butterflies. The greatest joy in her life was her family and she will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Dot in death were her parents, her husband of 41 years, Lawrence C. Lester, brother, Gordon E. Mercer, and sister, Jewel Lynn Mercer Fisher. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Frank Lester; daughters, Cynthia Lester Peek and husband, Ernest, and Keri Lester; sisters, Mary MacMahon, Daisy Campbell, and Peggy Peal; brothers, James Mercer and wife, Dorothy, and Tex Carlton Mercer. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and her large extended family.
