Dorothy Jane Tyra

SHREVEPORT, LA - Dorothy Jane Brasell Tyra went to her Heavenly home on July 11, 2015. She started this life on January 26, 1929 near Hall Sumitt, LA, born to the late John W. and Ruby Denton Brasell, who preceded Dorothy in death, along with a brother; and, her only child's father, Tommy Tyra. Fondly called "Dott" by those who knew and loved her, she was a successful beautician for 65 years, and she loved making people beautiful. She was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. Her last few months were spent enjoying life at Azalea Estates, where she had many dear friends. Dott is survived and will be missed by her only child, Thomas Mitchell "Mitch" Tyra and fiancée, Traci Genestet. Her granddaughter, Brittney Tyra Nugent and husband, Lance; her grandson, Brandon Tyra and fiancée, Becca Parnell; her great grandson, Jayce Nugent; her beloved best friend, Joann Davis; and brother, Perry Brasell and wife, Carolyn. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss Dott's feisty and sweet spirit. Graveside service will be held on the grounds of Forest Park West on Wednesday, July 15, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
