The Wilson family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Frances Bourgeois, a devoted friend and caregiver, and other dear friends for their continual kindnesses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; her beloved husband, Kirby Dean Wilson; her only son, Archie Ray Wilson and oldest grandson Michael Ray Wilson. Survivors include twin daughters Carol Latshaw and husband Bruce of Carrollton, TX; Nancy Wise and husband Gary of Huntsville, TX. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Kelly Jackson, Robin Hennigan, Amy Janice, John Mark Wise, Cindy Johnson and Holly Latshaw; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
Through 67 years of marriage she was a devoted wife and mother; committed to her Lord, her husband and her family. When Kirby returned from WWII, they built a home on Waller Street where they raised a loving family, and she resided the rest of her life. She was a "gracious lady", always considerate of her husband and others first. Together, they faced difficulty and loss - the sudden death of their son, then their first grandson, caring for aged parents in their home - yet never wavering in their dependence on God to carry them through.
Dorothy worked as school secretary at Rusheon Jr. High School for 23 years. After retirement, she volunteered as a 'pink-lady' with the Bossier Medical Center Guild for 20 years.
She so loved Waller Baptist Church, where she was a charter member and actively served for 65 years.
With a joyful attitude, she never missed an opportunity to express her gratitude to God for each new day, and to encourage others in their faith. Though limited by confinement to a wheelchair the past six years, God sent her a ripe harvest to tend-and she was faithful.
Memorials may be made to Waller Baptist Church of Bossier City.
