Dorsey LeNona Birdwell

Dorsey LeNona Birdwell, age 69, passed away on October 6, 2024. She was born on October 7, 1954, to Orren Birdwell and Blanche West.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Burial will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5200 E Broad St, Texarkana, AR 71854.

LeNona was a force to be reckoned with. She had a stare that could freeze you where you stood. When she was young, she was strong and could do almost anything. She was not afraid of anything or anyone! LeNona participated in ROTC through high school. Her occupations included working in a photo lab, and as an Office Manager in the beverage industry. She could talk on the phone while entering billing codes into the computer with one hand and using an adding machine with the other hand. It was incredible to watch. LeNona loved her boats and water skiing. She was a talented photographer, loved attending concerts, and enjoyed camping all over the United States. LeNona was passionate about sports, especially football, and could quote game and player statistics like no other. Her favorite teams were LSU and Saints. She was a peacemaker, a fierce and loyal friend, and always helped loved ones in need. She served as an aunt to numerous generations and taught many how to cook and to drive. LeNona will be deeply missed.

LeNona was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Left to cherish her memory include Joe West, Jon and Brenda Heimeyer, sister, Sheila Heimeyer; niece, Kaitlin Heimeyer and great-niece, Claire Heimeyer; stepfather, Don Conley, along with many cherished friends.

In honor of LeNona, the family suggests wearing LSU or Saints clothing to the service.
