On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Douglas Allen Bower, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at 59 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Douglas was born on August 24, 1961, in Akron, Ohio. He was the Executive Chef at Physicians Behavioral Hospital, a member of the Fellowship Cowboy Church, Greenwood, and an avid LSU fan. His greatest passions were family and cooking. The perfect day was one he spent cooking and watching movies with his wife, grandchildren, and fur baby, Mattie. He is survived by his adoring wife of 20 years, Linda Martin Bower; his sons, Daniel Blackmon of Monroe, Louisiana, and his daughter, Kelly Ann Mallet, and her mother, Kristy Mallet, of Bossier City, Louisiana; Jonathon Blackmon and his wife, Jessica, of Benton, Louisiana, and their son, Beaux Russell, and daughter, Maci Grace; his family, Clovis and Janet Martin of Bossier City, Louisiana; Alan Martin and his wife, Elli, of Blanchard, Louisiana and their son, Alan-Michael Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio and their daughter Jasmine Ellison of Bossier City, Louisiana; Mary-Catherine Ruben-Clapper and her husband, Scott, and their children Martin and Marshall Ruben of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his niece, Jamie Parr and her husband Kevin of Haughton, Louisiana; his sister-in-law, Dora Nichols of Haughton, Louisiana. Douglas was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Metts, and his brother, Eddie Nichols.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please make donations to the Humane Society or your local Animal Shelter in Douglas and Mattie\'s name in lieu of flowers.
