Dr. Denny E. Gamble, Sr. passed away after a long illness on September 25, 2017. Dr. Gamble was born on November 4, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave. Friday September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be conducted by Reverend Betsy Bingham Eaves, Pastor at St. Luke's Methodist Church.
Dr. Gamble was preceded in death by his parents Toby C. and Elna Brosette Gamble, his wife Delores Travis Gamble and his former wife, Kathryn Copeland Gamble. He is survived by sons; Denny E. \"Kit\" Gamble, Jr. and wife Lesa, Kevin C. Gamble, Jr. and wife Jean, Keith E. Gamble and wife Maureen; step-daughter Lara Travis; grandchildren Denny E. \"Denn\" Gamble, III and wife Betsy, Katherine Gamble Zimmerman and husband Wade, Kellie E. Gamble, Elizabeth Gamble Michaels and husband Daniel, and Walker K. Gamble and wife Cadie; great-grandchildren Jeremy D. Jones, Jr., Hailey Gamble, Peyton Gamble, Greenley Evan Gamble, Wyatt Lee Zimmerman, Kevin Copeland Gamble, III, Henry Gamble Zimmerman, Eliana Lee Michaels, Amara Katherine Michaels, Denny Elisha \"Eli\" Gamble, IV, and Corinne Noelle Gamble and step grandchild Grace Dupree.
Dr. Gamble graduated from Fairpark High School after skipping two grades. He attended Louisiana State University for two years, and then he was drafted in the United States Army. When he completed his service, he attended Centenary College. After finishing his pre-medical education, he attended and graduated from the Chicago College of Chiropody (now the Dr. Scholl\'s College of Podiatric Medicine) in 1952. He married Kathryn Copeland Gamble, mother of his three sons in 1948.
Dr. Gamble practiced Podiatry and Podiatric surgery in Shreveport from 1952 until 1998 at Gamble Foot Clinic. He trained several young podiatrists in how to practice podiatric medicine over the years of his practice.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Gamble built houses through Denny Gamble Homes and G&L Enterprises. He built pre-fabricated camp houses and owned a millwork company in the 1960s. He was the owner and operator of several nursing homes and hospitals in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee. He was president and part owner of Fairfield Hospital in Shreveport He co-founded Gamble Guest Care Corporation in 1973.
Dr. Gamble married Delores Travis Gamble in 1981. The Governor of Louisiana appointed Dr. Gamble to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and he served on it from 1984 to 1988. Not only did he continue his podiatric practice, but he continued to buy and sell real estate and build and remodel houses to sell until his retirement in 2012.
Dr. Gamble was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and was a founder and member of St. Luke\'s Methodist Church. Dr. Gamble had a deep Christian faith.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Gamble Jr., Denny E. Gamble III, Jonathan Gamble, Walker Gamble, Daniel Michael and Wade Zimmerman.
