Dr. Donald Yale Rosen
Dr. Donald Yale Rosen, DDS passed away on September 10, 2015 in the presence of his close-knit family. Don was 81 years old.
Don was a larger than life brilliant man and a member of Mensa who enjoyed good food, friends, his lunchtime dominoes and poker, bridge, and classic cars. A voracious reader, Don had his own weekly delivery of books from the Book-Mobile. Don had a life-long love of cooking. He proudly served our country as a Captain in the United States Air Force.
Don, "D" to his family, loved to travel and took many family trips with all of his grandchildren whom he adored.
A dentist, Don attended Southern Methodist University for undergraduate studies and was a graduate of Baylor Dental School. His 50-year dental practice in Shreveport was successful in that he helped thousands with a generosity to his patients that was returned to him throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Diebner Rosen; his daughter Lory Rosen Evensky and husband Larry Evensky; his son Dr. Lane Rosen and wife Dr. Maurie Patterson Rosen; his six loving grandchildren Leigh Anne, Cole, and Caroline Evensky, and Yale, Harrison, and Taylor Rosen; his younger brother Dr. Arnold Rosen, and wife Sondra, and sister-in-law Francine Rosen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mildred Rosen, and his older brother Gerald Rosen.
Don was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as a Shriner and a Jester. He was very involved in the community and a member of Agudath Achim Synagogue and B\'nai Zion Congregation.
The definition of a good father, Don was always there for his kids. He had great pride in his children and they knew it! We are so thankful for the time we had with him.
The family takes great comfort in knowing that Don was beloved by so many; he never met a stranger.
The family would like to thank the kind professional care of his many physicians. In particular in his last days by Drs. Craig Miller, Himanshu Desai, David Green, and the staff of Willis-Knighton Pierremont ICU. We would also like to thank his caretakers Essie, Punkin, and Douglas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to B\'nai Zion Congregation, 245 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71105.
Private burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at B'nai Zion Congregation on September 11, 2015. Officiating will be Rabbi Dr. Jana L. De Benedetti.
