Memorial services honoring the life of Dr. J. Gary Booker will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden, 900 Jordan Street. Due to COVID, the service will be held outside.
Dr. J. Gary Booker was born on January 22, 1953 in Center, Texas to James Julyn Booker and Sadie Rae Windham Booker. He entered into eternal rest in a tragic ATV wreck alongside his father, James Julyn Booker on August 29, 2020 in Mansfield, Louisiana.
Dr. Booker was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport. He was LSU Director of Emergency Psychiatry and started the Alzheimer's Support Fund of the Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana. LSU Medical school was dear to his heart, and he always felt that its graduates should give back to the community.
He is survived by his mother, Sadie Booker; wife, Ruth Martin Booker; daughters, Dr. Anne Booker and partner, Orion Thomas and Emily Jane Booker; sister, Charlotte Barber; brother, Greg Booker.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to LSU Medical School in care of David Lewis M.D. or the Community Foundation's Alzheimer's Support Fund.
