Visitation for Dr. Jimmie Clarice Dans will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home at 2500 Southside Dr., from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018. Graveside services for the immediate family will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018.
Dr. Dans was born on June 10, 1939 in Converse, Louisiana and passed away on May 29, 2018 in Shreveport. She was a graduate of Zwolle High School in 1957. She was awarded Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana Tech in 1962, awarded Master of Arts from University of Alabama in 1965, and awarded Doctor of Philosophy from Memphis State University in 1985. She served as a professor at Northwestern State University. She joined the Louisiana Tech faculty in 1994 as a professor of Speech. She finished her career as professor and Head of the Department of Speech, and Director of the Tech Speech and Hearing Center. She was a member of the Lagniappe Ladies and other academic organizations. She also received the Jeanette Laguaite Award in 2004, and upon retirement was awarded Professor Emerita. She was also a published author in the field of speech pathology.
She was a faithful supporter of Calvary Baptist Church, its missions ministry and academy. She was a very generous lady who gave to missions and helped her family on several mission endeavors. She was a great encourager, friend, and loving aunt to her nieces and nephew. She was genuinely loved and will be greatly missed by her family. We are apart for a short period of time but your family all look forward to joining you in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jimmie Dans. She is survived by her brother, Bill Dans and wife Frances; niece, Leigh Ann Dans; and great-niece, Christina her husband Jodey Taylor and their two children Macayla and Kayden.
