Dr. Leonard I. Goldman

SHREVEPORT, LA - Dr. Leonard Goldman, the father of Larry Goldman (wife Denise and their son, Jacob) and Susan Kim (husband David and their sons, Zachary and Ethan) was born to Abe and Gertrude Goldman on March 4, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey. He died on August 4, 2017, a little over a year after his beloved Betty. Leonard graduated from The University of Western Ontario Medical School and did his surgical training at Temple University in Philadelphia. He spent his professional career at Temple University, the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Shreveport, and at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. The culmination of his career was when he and Betty, the best nurse he ever met, opened a private practice together. Leonard's personality was larger than life. He was witty, engaging, insightful and opinionated. His laugh was distinctive and infectious. He will truly be missed. Leonard's last request was that no one grieve for him, for he felt truly blessed, with his wonderful wife, two children he was immensely proud of, and a profession he felt honored to be part of. There will be a private burial, followed by a Memorial Service in his honor at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017, at B'nai Zion Congregation, Shreveport, LA, with a reception to follow. Officiating will be Rabbi Dr. Jana L. DeBenedetti. Those wishing to honor his memory may give to the charity of the donor's choice.
