Dr. Preston E. Turner

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Dr. Preston Eugene Turner, 67, entered into rest on Sunday, November 2, 2014. He was born on June 11, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio born to the union of Willie Alvin and Ermalene Allen Turner. He grew up in Monroe, Louisiana before settling in Bossier City in 1984 after service in the United States Air Force and tours of duty in Vietnam. He continued public service with the United States Postal Service. Upon retirement in 1997, he worked as a teacher and later Administrator of Shreveport Christian School. Educational excellence was very important to him from a 1965 honor graduate of Carroll High School to honors at the Military Technical School and USAF Management School. In 2000, he obtained a B.S. in Organizational Management from Wiley College, and later in 2004, he was ordained into ministry receiving Honorary Doctorates in Humanities, Divinity, and Theology from Shreveport Bible College. Dr. Turner was a devoted husband and father, who dedicated his life to the Lord and his family. He enjoyed creative writing, music, basketball, photography, and lively conversation. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie Alvin Turner, Jr. and James Oliver Turner; two sisters, Velma Lee Turner Moore and Lillian Turner Dillard. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Aurelia Bulatao Turner; son, Lincoln Simon Turner and his wife Erin; daughters, Christine Turner, Stacey Turner, Melanie Turner Watson and her husband Blaine; sisters Barbara Ann Turner, Evelyn Turner Body and her husband John, Glenda Faye Turner; brother, Charles Alvin Turner and his wife Gwendolyn; 8 grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Willis-Knighton Bossier ICU staff. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Airline Drive from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA at 2 p.m.
