HOMER, LA: Dr. Sarah Katharine Thomson (Sally) died at her home in Englewood, New Jersey late Friday afternoon June 19, 2015 at age 86. She was born on June 25, 1928 in Statesville, North Carolina to Edward William Thomson of Delhi Louisiana and Sarah Traylor Meadors of Homer, Louisiana, both of whom predeceased her. Sally was a 1945 graduate of Homer High School. She continued her education from 1945-1947 at Southwestern in Memphis and she then transferred to Agnes Scott College and attended from 1947-1949 where she received a B.A. degree in 1949. Sally then moved to New York City and received her M.S. degree in Library Science from Columbia University in 1950. She received her D.L.S. in 1967 from Columbia University. Over the years Sally had a number of interests outside of her profession. She was a member of the Metropolitan Opera for many years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, sailing and photography. Her real interest though was travel. For many years she took about four overseas trips to many different areas of the world. Venice was her favorite city. She travelled throughout Europe but also to South Africa, Syria, Libya, China, Central Asia and many other places far and wide.
Sally made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ last July and is now enjoying being with her Savior and other family members that went before her.
