Duane was born on January 4, 1949, in Bloomsburg, PA to Marlin Wayne and Marie Mae Hoover and passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Shreveport.
Duane was a resident of Shreveport. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1970. He married his ‘Honey’ Mary Ann Rachal of Shreveport on June 9, 1971. He was a hard worker and provider by working for Beaird Poulan Saw Co. for 11½ years, Louisiana Ammunition Plant for 11½ years, and retired from Fibrebond after 25 years. He achieved two Associate Degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and one in Hydraulic Engineering. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Broadacres Baptist Church of Shreveport, where he also led Children’s Church. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians since 1984 and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians since 1987. The Lord blessed us with a loving, faithful man of God, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. You could count on him to lend a helping hand and always had a trick in his pocket. It was important to him to find ways to put a smile on people’s faces, and he did so with a humble heart. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin Wayne and Marie Mae of Danville, PA; siblings, Richard Hoover of Danville, PA, and Jerry Hoover of Shreveport, LA.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Hoover; children, Darrell Hoover (Angela) of Shreveport, LA, James Hoover of Blanchard, LA, Lori Allen (Andy) of Bethany, LA, and Michael Swanger (Kelly) of Catawissa, PA; grandchildren, Donald Allen, Emile Allen, Rylei Hoover, Axel Hoover, and Maxton Hoover; siblings, Carmelita Hartman and Anna Crawford of Danville, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Honoring Duane as pallbearers will be Darrell Hoover, James Hoover, Donald Allen, Casey Hall, Justin Price, and Levi Holley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be William Hall, David Price, Jr., and Keaton Holley.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Broadacres Baptist Church, P.O. Box 29399, Shreveport, LA 71129.
