Grand Cane, LA- Service honoring the life of Dwight Nicholas Young will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM, with funeral service to follow at 11 AM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. With internment following at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA. Officiating the service Jamison May of Grand Cane Baptist Church.
Dwight was born in Marshall, TX on May 11, 1937, the middle child of Dr. AV Young, Sr and Mary Van Arsdel Young and died on Friday, July 8, 2016. He resided at Heritage Manor South due to declining health which he faced with fierce determination.
Dwight grew up in the Dixie Garden area of Shreveport where his parents operated Young's Veterinary Hospital. He attended Caddo and DeSoto Schools, graduating from Grand Cane High School. After graduation, he attended Louisiana Tech University for a brief time. He then returned to Grand Cane where he operated a dairy and assisted in the operation of the family business, Young Angus Farm. After selling the Dairy business in the Late 1980's, Dwights business centered around hay baling and tree farming. He also nurtured areas of the farm for deer, and duck hunting, stocked ponds for fishing and grew sunflowers for enjoyment.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother AV "Dickie" Young, Jr. and wife Carol, and daughter Brenda Ann "Annie" Young.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren who were the joy of his life; daughter, Pam Bison and husband Ronny; Son, Charley Young and wife Kelly and their children daughter Alex Young Hunter and husband Scott; grandson, Jacob Anderson Young; sister, Gail Young Laughner and husband Jim; nieces Beth Young Timmons and husband Kim; nephew David Young and wife Robin.
