Shreveport, LA - Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015. Funeral service will conducted Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the sanctuary of the Pentecostals of Bossier City, located at 2833 Viking Drive. Rev. Jerry Dean, Rev. Joey Paul, and Rev. Shannon Stanley will be officiating. Interment will be at the Collins Family Cemetery in Jena, Louisiana.
David Collins, 78, passed from this life on Saturday, January 31, 2014, at his home in Shreveport. He was born on June 8, 1936, to Eddie Collins and Ethel Hailey Collins of Jena, Louisiana. Mr. Collins was a long-time business owner in the Shreveport area and a member of the Pentecostals of Bossier City. He was a loving father and devoted husband that loved to sing, play musical instruments, and restore antique cars.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Brown Collins of Shreveport, his three children: Darrell Collins and his wife Cindy of Shreveport, Ron Collins and his wife Suzanne of Stonewall, Wanda Collins Scott and her husband Nathan of Shreveport, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three brothers Buck Collins of Jena, Louisiana, Donald Collins of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Joe Collins of Jena, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Ethel Collins.
Pallbearers are: James Collins, Darron Collins, Stephen Scott, Brian Collins, Brent Collins, Dathan Triplett. Honorary pallbearers: Tim McGraw, Justin Jones, Roger Deville, and Tony Deville.
David will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends and neighbors that loved him. The family asked that memorials be made to the Missions Department of the Pentecostals of Bossier.
