Edgar Rudolph Reeves

Funeral services for Edgar Rudolph "Rudy" Reeves, 82, will be held on Friday August 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 201 John Wesley Blvd, Bossier City, Louisiana 71112. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend David Dietzel and Reverend Mark Goins. Rudy was born on September 8, 1938, in Donaldson, Arkansas to Edgar Devoy and Nola Johnson Reeves and passed away Sunday, August 9, 2021, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Rudy was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Bossier City since 1959. He was a charter member of the Midyett Bible Class and was on the Board of Trustees. He graduated from Springhill High School in 1957. Rudy was a member of the Bossier City Lions Club for many years. He was also a salesman for Coca-Cola before becoming co-owner of Britt's Grocery in Shreveport, with his brother-in-law, Larry Whorton, for 35 years. After selling the store, he enjoyed working for the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office until he retired in 2016. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Reeves Harrington; brother, Cecil Reeves and mother-in-law, Janie Blanche Stampley Whorton, who he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Etta Whorton Reeves; daughter, Jayne Reeves; brother, Jerry Reeves; grandson, Ryan Hadden and great-grandchildren, Leanna Hadden and Colton Hadden. Honoring Rudy as pallbearers will be Gary Hackman, Charles "Chuck" Whorton, Jr., Bobby Whorton, Richard Whorton, Jimmy Whorton and Terry Harlon. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be C.G. "Buck" Whorton, III, Dale Bickham, Doyne E "Skip" Harrington and Richard Hadden III.
