Funeral services for Edith Lorraine Pennington, 93, will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Full Gospel Temple, 5606 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park East, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Lorraine was born on November 23, 1927 to Edith Mae Patterson Pennington and Jesse Battle Pennington in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Lorraine is preceded in death by her mother; grandmother, Julia Denham Patterson; and uncle, Marvin Weber Patterson. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gerry and Lynn Woolman; cousins, Priscilla Walker of Dallas, Texas and Tim and Suzette Walker of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her dear friends and "Little Flock" at the Full Gospel Temple, who considered her their "Spiritual Mother." Lorraine's mother, Edith Mae Pennington, established Full Gospel Temple in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1936. Lorraine moved to Shreveport in 1937 with her mother and grandmother and served as Secretary/Bookkeeper for the church for many years. She also served as Sunday School Teacher and Torchbearer Leader. She has been the pastor of the church since 1974. Lorraine preached her last sermon, "Seeking God" for the morning service this past Sunday. She started playing the piano for the church when she was 13-years-old and graduated to the organ when she was 20 and played for the morning service this past Sunday. She had an intense love for God and His cause and a unique personal relationship with her Lord. She was also an America loving, flag waving citizen of the United States, and was a deep lover of Israel. Honoring Lorraine as pallbearers will be Paul Born, Myron Prince, Jacob Maynard, Robert Deen, David Woolman, David Deen, Kenneth Deen, Rodney Born and Jonathan Harrison. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Avery Deen, Alivia Deen, Adam Born and Matthew Born.
