Edna Lea Wagner Rose was born on September 8, 1927 in Boyce, LA, and left this earth from Tulsa, OK, on February 2, 2017.
Her parents were Daisy Stewart Wagner and Milburn Wagner.
She was raised in Boyce before moving to Shreveport, where she graduated Byrd HS, Class of \'44. She attended Highland Hospital School of Nursing, through the Army Nurse Corps, and joined the Air Force as a First Lieutenant where she was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. There, she met a young officer (whom she happened to outrank) playing a piano in the Officers Club. Sparks flew, and she and Second Lt. Ward A. Rose were married on January 10, 1952. They traveled the world through the Air Force raising four children along the way, until his death in 1973.
Edna continued to work in Shreveport as a nurse. She opened the Pines Treatment Center as the Director of Nursing. She was also much loved by patients, staff, and physicians at P&S Hospital until it closed. She retired as a home health nurse at the age of 72.
She was a tireless mother, a reluctant Cub Scout den mother, and supported the multitude of band and orchestra activities of her children.
Loved by all who came in contact with her, Edna never met a stranger (as anyone who ever went to the grocery store with her will attest).
She meets her mother Daisy McDowell, father Milburn Wagner, sister, Sukey Laborde, brother, Sam Wagner, and husband Ward Rose at the gates of Heaven, where a celebration will occur.
Left to remember her are daughter, Karen Rose Decker and husband Steven of LaGrange, GA, son Stewart Rose and Marie Mayo of Shreveport, daughter Robin Rose Blaylock Pitchford and husband Gary of Tulsa, OK, son Sgt. Charles Rose of the Shreveport Police Dept and Jeri Wright.
Also remembering Mimi, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, are Shawn Johnson, Katie Johnson, Erica Blaylock Ramm, Ella Rose, Christa Rose, Cameron Rose, Taylor Rose, Raegan Rose, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. All will remember her with love and laughter.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday evening February 5, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, in the chapel of Rose-Neath. Interment will following at Forest Park East, Shreveport, LA.
