He graduated from All Saints Episcopal High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, attended Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport where he followed his father into membership in Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Ed had many friends who have some of their best stories about life when in his company. He cherished the friends he made in North Arkansas while obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, Arkansas. Ed had a home inspection business and was employed as a landman. He loved managing projects and spending time with family at Cottonwood Farms. He had a talent for painting with watercolors even winning an award for one of his works. He made lifelong friends through his membership in the Harley Owners Group and found meaning in volunteering his time to veterans charities. His fun-loving personality endeared him to many as well as his ability to make people laugh. His accident-prone nature resulted in many hilarious stories. He truly loved his pet companions, Doc and Dusty. Preceding Ed in death was his father, John Lamar Copeland. Survivors are his mother, Carolyn Cox Copeland; sister, Eleanor Kay Copeland deBerardinis and husband, David of Shreveport; niece, Callye Ewing deBerardinis of Dallas, TX and nephew, John Samuel deBerardinis of Washington, D.C. Ed was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle and a devoted and loyal friend. He struggled with health issues for many years, but always managed to have a smile and a laugh or hug for those who loved him.
