Edward Ashley Richards was born October 12, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee to Henry Edward Richards and Mamie McDonald Richards. He departed this life on September 18, 2023 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eddie spent his childhood in Ivan and later moved to Shreveport, where he graduated from Fair Park High School in 1965. He then enlisted into the U.S Air Force at the age of 18 joining the 3rd Combat Communication Group. Sgt. Richards Air Force decorations included the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Once he departed from the military, he started a lifelong career with Swepco where he developed many lasting friendships and retired in 2010. On April 13, 1984, he married his beloved wife, Donnie “Kay'' Richards where they went on to spend 39 wonderful years together making their home in Shreveport before becoming longtime residents of Keithville/Spring Ridge. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and friend. He was a beacon of love, wisdom and strength and his memory will forever grace the lives of anyone who knew him.
Eddie developed an early love and knowledge for computers, electronics and music which led to him collecting many records where he would entertain family and friends throughout the years on his high-fidelity audio sound system. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed collecting diecast cars which he grew into a very impressive collection.
He also had a love for football and Jesus Christ among many other things. He was a faithful member of Keithville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school class until being diagnosed with leukemia in 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mamie Richards; and his loving wife, “Kay” Richards. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Tina Doerr and husband, David, Staci Kea and husband, Craig; grandchildren, Jordan Guillory and husband, Cody, Raegan Meshell, Jake Broadway and wife, Rainey, Chasiti Ferguson; and six great-grandchildren.
