Coushatta, LA
Celebration of life and going home service for Edward Lorriane Layfield, 73, will be held Monday, June 15, 2015, at the St. George Catholic Church in Coushatta, at 10:00 AM with Father Matthew Long officiating. Interment will follow at Holley Springs Cemetery in Martin, LA. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta with a rosary at 7:00 PM.
Ed was born June 20, 1941, in Red River Parish, LA, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 11, 2015, in Mansfield, LA. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He worked in the construction business for most of his life. He never met a stranger and always offered his help to anyone in need. He loved to work in his garden planting flowers, fishing and hunting and was always outside tinkering around with something. He was also known for pulling pranks and jokes on family and friends, getting a good laugh from it.He H
Preceding him in death were parents, J. D. Layfield and Lillian Holley Layfield; step-mother, Jewel Layfield; brother, James Terrell Layfield; son, Wayne Layfield; and son-in-law, Lovic Waters.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Cindy Layfield of Castor, LA; sons, Greg Layfield and wife, Darline of Fairview Alpha, LA; and David Layfield and wife, Stacy of Coushatta, LA; daughters, Michelle Hays and husband, Robert of Castor, LA; Holly Ladner and husband, Austin of Pleasant Hill, LA; and Theresa Edwards of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Gregory Layfield, Jr. and wife, Keeley; Ashley Layfield, Corey Layfield, Dustin Layfield and wife, Kasey, Rachel Jarnagin, Christina Jarnagin, Adam Jarnagin and wife, Ashley, Kevin Layfield, Kim Layfield, Kayla Layfield, 3rd Class Petty Officer Peyton Long and wife, Mandy, Madison Long, Tyler Waters, Ayden Hays, and Jake Hays.; 19 great-grandchildren; special friend of the family, Wanda Mahoney of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Mansfield Nursing Center for the special care given during his stay.
