Edwin John Pousson

Edwin (Ed) Pousson was 104 years young at the time of his death on March 13, 2023 at his home on Chapel Lane. He died peacefully, in his sleep, with his loving family in attendance.

Edwin was born November 7, 1918 on a farm between Egan and Iota, LA, born to parents Cerenic and Leonore Richard Pousson.  He was a World War II Vet, having served in the US Navy from 1939 to 1945. Edwin spent most of his working career at the Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He retired in 1981, after 35 years of service.

Edwin married Marguarette (Maggi) Truax in Churchpoint, Louisiana, in 1942. Their blessed union lasted over 71 years before Maggi departed this earth on August 11, 2014. They had 10 children together.

They were predeceased by children Penny Ann, Edwin John Pousson, Jr., Mary Lisa Pousson, and grandchildren John Philip Pousson and June Marie Smith.

Edwin is survived by his other children: Margie Pousson of Austin, TX; Mike Pousson of Many, LA;  Jaye Pousson Stepp (Beryl), of Briarcliff, TX; Roby Pousson (Judie) of St Amant, LA; Phil Pousson (Debbie) of Denham Springs, LA; Nick Pousson (Camille) of Covington, LA; and Nancy Pousson (Mark) of Blanco, TX.

They were also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren!

Edwin and Maggi built their retirement home from the ground up in the Toledo Bend area. Edwin soon tamed the red clay soil into garden loam that was the envy of many. His garden was a sight to behold. He spent his golden years where he wanted to be – at home, with family. His oldest living son, Mike Pousson, has been his at-home caregiver for more than 11 years.

A Celebration of Life for Edwin Pousson will be held by his family in the near future.
