Eleanora was born October 12, 1936, to Benedict Joseph Felux and Anita Donaubauer Felux in Hobson, Texas. She grew up in Kenedy, Texas and graduated from high school there with academic honors. She was a Business Administration graduate of Draughn’s College in San Antonio, Texas. Years later, at age 50, Eleanora returned to college in Shreveport, Louisiana where she graduated and received an additional business degree. She married Thomas Lester Harlan, her high school sweetheart, whom she met when they were 12 years old. They were married 67 years and had two children.
Eleanora was employed for 25 years with the U.S. Federal Government in various agencies and cities throughout the United States: Houston, Austin, Beeville, Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, San Francisco, California, and Shreveport, Louisiana. She worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy, Federal Internal Revenue Service, Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (PTF), and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She retired in 2005.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church, Catholic Schools and Catholic Charismatic Renewal. She served on prayer and service ministries, boards and organizations on both the Parish and Diocesan levels. Eleanora was a Eucharistic Minister, choir member, CCD and Bible Class teacher. She also volunteered with civic and community organizations.
Her life and greatest joys revolved around her family and friends. Eleanora smiled and laughed often. She had a kind and gentle spirit ~ and a determined will! Traveling, enjoying outdoor nature, reading, music, designing, sewing, making ceramics and playing Mahjong with friends were some of her favorites.
Eleanora was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Maxene Felux; and brothers-in-law, James Buck, and Bill Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Lester Harlan, 87.
