Elizabeth Albritton McGee

Elizabeth Albritton McGee went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the age of 85. The daughter of Earl and Francis, she spent her early years in Castor, Louisiana before moving to Shreveport as a young teenager graduating from C.E. Byrd High School. She attended Louisiana College before marrying Maxie Wayne McGee in September 1957.

 Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Wayne McGee, whom she met in the first grade at Castor School. They lost touch after Elizabeth moved to Shreveport, but serendipitously met again near C.E. Byrd High School the summer of 1957. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Francis Albritton; and her sister, M. J. Albritton Kessler. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen McGee and his wife, Connie and Scott McGee and his wife, Babbi; her granddaughter, Rachel McGee Wardell and her husband, Michael, her grandson Matthew McGee and his wife, Alexis, and her grandson, Adam McGee; as well as her three great-grandchildren Ellie, Brooks, and Dawson McGee.

 Elizabeth retired from ArkLa Gas as a Senior Tax Auditor and spent her golden years pursuing her passions which included collecting, especially LSU and Coca-Cola memorabilia. She loved spending time searching for a good deal at Garage and Estate Sales, and eventually on eBay. She was a long-time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and Choir, and was active in her Sunday School class. She was dedicated to raising money for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry Mission Fundraiser by volunteering and coordinating the yearly yard sale. One of her favorite things was traveling to LSU baseball and football games, and she enjoyed spending time with her “LSU” friends. Elizabeth treasured her family, especially her numerous dogs and cats over the years. 

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at Old Castor Cemetery in Castor, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Chuck Pourciau, Dr. Larry Williams and Dr. Herb Armentrout.

 Honoring Elizabeth as pallbearers will be Matthew McGee, Adam McGee, Michael Wardell, Emmett Tugwell, Gary Russell, and Gerry McGee.
