Shreveport, LA- Elizabeth Ferguson Pruitt passed from this life to eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ on January 6, 2015, following a long illness. Celebration of Life services of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Sewell Ferguson Pruitt, 78, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 8, 2015, in the Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Dr. Chad Hardbarger officiating. Interment will follow on the grounds of Rose-Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation Thursday, January 8, 2015, from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM at Rose-Neath Southside. Elizabeth was born September 18, 1936 to Joseph T. and Willie Anna Sewell in Celina, Texas. The family moved to Fort Worth, TX, in 1943, where they were all active in Poly Baptist Church. Elizabeth married Donald Ray Ferguson and to this union 2 sons were born, Gary Lynn and Alan Ray. The family moved to Shreveport, LA, where Don was co-owner of Shreve Optical. Elizabeth completed business school and worked man years for Reeves Marine Co., then joined Don to work at his Optical business until his passing. Elizabeth was an active member of Ingleside Baptist Church and then later moved her membership to Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and was a member of the sanctuary choirs in both churches. Following Elizabeth's marriage to Ray Pruitt in November 2001, they moved into a new home built just for them. Elizabeth's health gradually deteriorated over the next few years. Throughout her illness Ray was a devoted husband, friend, and caregiver. The family will always be grateful to Ray for his loving devotion to Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a woman of deep faith and prayer, and a loving and devoted mother and wife. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary Buckalew Smith. She is survived by her husband, son Gary Ferguson and wife, Terre of Baton Rouge, son Alan Ferguson of Shreveport, granddaughter Erin Ferguson of Denton, TX, sister Joetta Belew of Fort Worth, TX, stepson Keith Pruitt and wife Mary of Mangham, LA and their family, caregiver Vera Stinson, along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends who were very precious to her.
