Stonewall, LA - Elizabeth Ann Simpson Pickett, 37, of Stonewall passed away on January 11, 2017, surrounded by loved ones.
Living her life for God, Elizabeth began her career by graduating magna cum laude from LSUS. She spent years as an English teacher, where she considered the classroom her mission field. She also enjoyed being a sign-language interpreter, even having the opportunity to do sign language for President George W. Bush during his visit to Shreveport. More recently, she served as the Treasurer for the DeSoto Parish Republican Executive Committee for District 2, ran several successful small businesses, and spent time being a strong advocate for children with Familial Mediterranean Fever Syndrome. She was often known to be a champion for those in need, and her legacy of service will continue in all who knew her.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Thomas Watson Leachman and Evelyn Leachman, and Edward S. Whitelaw and Helen Whitelaw, and her husband's grandparents, Larry and Laverne Holiman. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Jason Pickett; their son, Jacob; and their daughters, Caroline and Casyn. Also left to cherish her memory are her parents, Edward and Jeanne Simpson; her sister, Rachel Simpson; her brother, Rick Simpson, and wife, Cindy; her sister, Emily Simpson Jones and husband, Cameron; her nieces, Evelyn and Dorothy Jones; and her nephew, Oliver Jones. She is also survived by her in-laws, Wayne and Patricia Pickett; her brother-in-law, Larry Pickett and wife, Tomi, and their children, Kaylee and Kinsley; and her husband's grandparents, Glenn and Clarice Pickett.
A visitation at Life Tabernacle Church will be held on Saturday, January 14 from 12:00-1:30 PM, and a service celebrating Elizabeth\'s life will immediately follow at 1:30. Guests are invited to honor Elizabeth at the celebration of her life by the wearing of the color green. Pallbearers are Sammy Deeds, Dennis Bryant, Adam Rimmer, Beau Bryant, Chris Lee, and Cody Dollar.
