Celebration of Life services for Ellis "Rowe" (Paw Paw) Vinson, 92, will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Bro. Bill Crosby and Bro. Crawford Williams officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Forest Park West under the direction of Rose-Neath. The family will be receiving guests for visitation Monday, October 6, 2014 from 10:30 AM until time of service at Rose-Neath Southside.
Rowe was born July 19, 1922, in Kaufman, TX, to the late Walter A. and Florence Leona Osborne Vinson and was called home October 3, 2014, in Shreveport, LA. He was a member of Kingston Road Baptist Church here in Shreveport. Rowe served in the U.S. Coast Guard followed by a career at Standard Coffee and eventually retiring from CPSB. He was a hardworking man who did not believe in burning daylight. Rowe was known for his knack to grown vegetables which he loved to share with the Sisters at Holy Angels.
Rowe was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 70 years; Katherine Lattier Vinson, daughter-in-law; Brenda Vinson and numerous siblings. Left to cherish the wonderful memories Rowe leaves behind will be two daughters; Kathy Vinson and Mona Vinson, one son; Terry Vinson and wife Jamie, his favorite granddaughter; Denise Vinson Arthur and husband Marty, two great-grandsons; Nicholas and Kory Arthur, numerous nieces and nephews which he loved like his own along with many wonderful friends.
Honoring Rowe as pallbearers will be David Pool, Joseph Pool, Brett Edwards, Tom Owens, Jarvis Bounds and Paul Gibson.
In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106, 318-797-8500, where Mona Vinson resides.
