A memorial service honoring the life of Elmer ‘Eddie’ Edwards will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church in Converse, Louisiana.
Eddie, as he was always known, was born January 6, 1947 to Elmore E. and Opal Daniels Edwards in Mineola, Texas. He went home to be with Jesus peacefully in his sleep at his home in Converse, Louisiana, on Monday, July 8, 2024.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Tommie Jo Nicholson Edwards; his three children: oldest daughter, Stephanie Roberts (Alan) of Shreveport, Louisiana, one son, Jason Edwards (Shelia Watson) and youngest daughter, Monica Elliott (Rodney) all of Converse, Louisiana; grandchildren, Susan Knight (Darren) of Boise, Idaho, David Roberts (Jennifer) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Devin Faircloth (Benji Gulett), Magen Faircloth, Allie Downs (Lance Evans) and Riley Downs all of Converse, Louisiana; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Makenzie, Lincoln and Josie Roberts, Averi Gulett, Delilah and Tate Williams and Walker Evans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Carolyn Moss, Betty Horn, Marilyn Myers and son-in-law, Alan Roberts.
Eddie and Tommie Jo made their home in Thibodaux, Louisiana for 20 plus years. Eddie spent his life working in the oilfield, both on land and offshore. He was injured offshore working for BP in 1991. He was consequently retired then and moved to Converse, Louisiana to live on Toledo Bend Lake in 1995, which was a lifelong dream. He loved to fish and hunt for several years until his body would not let him anymore. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having get togethers, cooking and celebrating birthdays and such.
