Elsie Inez Guthrie

A memorial service honoring the life of Elsie Inez Guthrie will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9311 Wallace Lake Road, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Elsie Inez Guthrie was born August 3, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia and passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Elsie was a member of Southeast Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was baptized in 1974. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Shelton; step-dad, Joseph Shelton; biological father, Herbert Evans and loving husband, Charles Lee Guthrie.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lesa Ramsey and husband, John, Lora Moore and Lelia Magnusson; son, Charles Randall Guthrie; brother, Gary Shelton and wife, Jo; sisters, Rita Moses, Mary Dreher and Connie Davis and husband, Johnny; grandchildren, Cassandra Fletcher and husband, Scott, Katrina Coates and husband, Kevin, James Behan and wife, Erin, David Behan, Dallas Ramsey, Sonja Tillman and husband, Henry, Michael Moore and wife, Katelyn, Nathan Moore and wife, Katie, Justin Whaley and wife, Heather and Sean Whaley and wife, Amanda; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank all the friends for their loving support and prayers during such a saddened time as well as thank all the staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Health Center, Amedisys Hospice and Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street for helping us take care of our sweet mom.
