Elva passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016. She was born on January 2, 1925 in Panhandle, Texas to Ola and Zenus Walcher. She was the youngest of eight children. She met the love of her life, James Max (Honey) Borden, Sr., in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1942. They were married 60 years until his death in February, 2003.
Elva was a people person and a wonderful sales person and supervisor. She retired from TG&Y two times. She and her husband were active at Airline Church of Christ where they worked in the benevolence ministry. She also was an avid reader of the Bible, and anything that she could learn from. A self-taught painter, her artwork was on everything from kitchen cabinets to shovels, turtle shells and rocks. Everything that she did was done with joy, and it was infectious to all. A sign hung on her home proudly stating, "The Home of Honey and Murr."
Elva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and six brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are: sister, Ida Roselius; children Jacqulyn Wine husband Jamie and James Max Borden, Jr. wife Sandy; grandchildren Timothy Max Wine wife Jacklyn; Charles C. Wine, Andrea Pendergraft husband Jeff, Jack Borden wife Shelly and Joe Max Borden; great-grandchildren Garrett, Chris, Colton, Payne, Adeline, Tatum, Kolbie, Max, Madison, Tristan, Michelle and Joey; great-great-grandson Carter, numerous relatives and extended family.
Honoring Elva as pallbearers will be Charles Beckham, Jack Borden, Joe Max Borden, George (Sonny) Cole, Garrett Faktor, Jimmy Reeves, Jim Stovall, Timothy Wine, Charles Wine and Chris Wine. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Buddy Christ, Larry Kirkeby, Robert McDonald, Joe McDoniel, Don Maxwell, Hop Paden, and Mitch Proctor.
Special thanks and love go to Gwen Arendell, Judy Cole and Rose Nichols for their love and care, and to Life Path Hospice who made her final journey so peaceful.
