Shreveport, LA - Funeral Services celebrating the life of Elva "Irene" Reece, 90, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Sunday. Interment will follow at Central Cemetery in Robeline, LA. Pastor Steve Robinson will be officiating the service.
Irene was born to Rollie Stewart and Eva Slater on November 14, 1929 in Florien, Louisiana.
Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Reece, of 43 years; parents; brothers, Clifford Stewart, Clovis Stewart, Milton Stewart, Lawrence Stewart, Prentis Stewart, and Berman Stewart; sisters, Bertha Durr, Laura McFerren and grandson; Levi Reece. She is survived by her children; Jan Hunter and husband, Larry, Charles Reece and wife, Carol, Joy McGuire and husband, Judd; brother, Travis Stewart of Woodville, TX; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reece worked as a teacher at Cross Point Christian Academy until the age of 85. She had an unconditional love for her family and friends and was a proud matriarch of over five generations. She was also an avid bird watcher and loved to be out in her yard.
Honoring Mrs. Reece as pallbearers will be Mike Courtney, Daniel Durr, Jonathan Hunter, Matt Mullin, Connor Perry, and Chris Woolman. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Byley, Rick McClelland, and Alex Winget.
