Buddy was born December 1, 1943 in Frierson, Louisiana to Harry and Marie Poret Kennady. He passed away June 17, 2021 at his home in Bossier City, Louisiana at the age of 77.
In 1964, Buddy enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 21, where he served his country for three years. In 1968, by fate, he ended up at the house of Charlene Fazio. Once he laid eyes on her, he never left, and in 1969 they were married and spent the next 52 years together. After marrying, he started working for the City of Shreveport Fleet Services. He started out as a mechanic fixing vehicles and after 27 years, he retired as Chief Supervisor.
Once retiring, Buddy took advantage of the time he could spend doing some of his favorite things. He loved to travel, see the sites, and play the slots in every city they visited. But when he wasn't reading a Louis L'Amour novel, his favorite time spent was the time with his family, including his beloved pets.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Brandyn Michael Shepherd-Bills; and son-in-law, Randy Wingard. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Kennady; children, Richard Kennady and wife, Laurie, Johnny Shepherd and wife, Barbara, Lloyd Shepherd and wife, Peggy, Karen Bright and husband, Rick, and Debbie Wingard; grandchildren, Jennifer Rivers, Brandy Garison, Teri Brownson, Robin Fraley, Krista Henderson, Kristy Kellough, David Shepherd, Christopher Kennady, Hannah Kennady, Cody Naber, and Spencer Naber; sister, Bernice Lagars; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Honoring Buddy as pallbearers will be Ben Garison, Dalton Howard, Trenton Howard, Jon Kellough, Christopher Kennady, Jeremy Rivers, and David Shepherd.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Marsolina "Butch" Montanez.
