Jean was born on September 5, 1949 in Oakdale, Louisiana to Burrell R. and Maggie L. Harvey and passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Shreveport.
Jean was one of the most beautiful, loving angels. There are no words to describe what an amazing mother and grandmother she was. She had a tendency to take others under her wing, becoming “Mom” to everyone. She was one of the most loyal and compassionate friends and brought smiles and laughter to everyone who had the privilege to know her. She was a second “Mom” to the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team. She graduated from Louisiana Tech with a B.S. degree and spent her career as a teacher. She married the love of her life, Dr. E.C. Farabee on July 16, 1972 where they enjoyed 50 wonderful years together!
Jean is preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dr. E.C. Farabee; daughter, Laura Farabee and partner, Brandon Pruiett; grandchildren, Jade Porter, Kai Pruiett; sisters, Rayetta Thompson and husband, Monroe of Boyce, Louisiana and Landa Johnson and husband, James of Cravens, Louisiana; five nieces and nephews and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews.
Honoring Jean as pallbearers will be Gregg Thompson, Brian Thompson, Michael Johnson, Brandon Pruiett, Drake Thompson and Steven Thompson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Monroe Thompson, James Johnson and the Mudbug hockey team.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex at LeBonheur, both of Memphis, Tennessee.
