A memorial service for Enrique Christian Baez "Chris", 60, will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Mark Ratley.
Chris was born on February 1, 1964, to Daniel Enrique Baez and Carmen Evangelina Aybar Baez in the Bronx, New York, and went to Heaven Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Chris's life was a tapestry of diverse experiences, adventures, and never-ending love for his family.
Chris was a dedicated man with a passion for life. With versatility and determination, there was nothing he couldn't do or anything he wouldn't try to make life better for his family. He was a dedicated Staff Sargent working the flight line at the tower at Barksdale, sold insurance at Banker's Life and Casualty, worked for Shreveport 911, and then worked in the pest control industry where he found fun, passion, and how to challenge himself. Opening Ace Services in 1996, he expanded his knowledge and services to not only being the owner/operator and licensee for pest and termite control, and at one point lawn fertilization, but he was also a licensed wildlife removal operator, licensed realtor, licensed home inspector, and licensed drone pilot. There was nothing he wouldn't do or try, and he loved it all!
Kathy's grandma saw him at Wendy's and that was the start of Chris and Kathy. They met at 18 and 19 years old, sharing 42 years together, with 38 amazing years of marriage. He always said she was the love of his life, his biggest fan, and his best friend. Together they navigated life's joys and challenges, the ups and downs of life always saying, "It's you and me against the world". Their bond was/is unbreakable, and their love inspired all who knew them.
He was a man of many talents and interests. Always looking for fun, adventures, mischief, mayhem, and shenanigans. Whether he was working, working out, swimming, playing pool, playing his guitar, fishing, inventing new drinks for all to try, telling jokes, pulling pranks, watching movies, or his favorite shows, his zest for life was infectious and contagious.
Chris loved to learn new things to expand his mind, thoughts, and views. He was a member of the high school swim team, and jazz band, mastering the guitar (self-taught), and a member of an elite performing arts high school. He proudly served in the United States Air Force which showcased his bravery and skills through specialized training in terrorist operations, bomb awareness, hostage negotiations, and expert marksmanship across all firearms. He also held one black belt in Tae Kwon Do and one black belt in Shotokan.
Chris had so many professional and personal achievements, but his true passion and love were his family and friends. His love was unconditional. His granddaughter, Ellie, held a special place in his heart, his "mini sparkly". Chris had a charismatic personality and an ever-present smile. He brought laughter and fun wherever he went and whatever he did. He would say "I'm going Mach 5 with his hair on fire" (that's why he was bald!), and "Roll with life or it will roll you over!". He was "Kathy's Clown", always keeping her laughing and smiling through it all. Chris will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chris was preceded in death by his daughter, (Krissi) Kristin Baez, his father, Daniel Baez; mother, Carmen Baez; father-in-law, Daniel J. McGrath and his mother-in-law, Rusty McGrath. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Baez; son, Daniel Baez; daughter-in-law, Kaitlyn Baez; granddaughter Laura Elaine (Ellie) Baez; brother, Omar Baez and sister-in-law, Debbie Baez.
