Arcadia - Homecoming celebration for Era Onita Sanders Methvin will be held 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2016, at Mt. Mariah United Methodist Church in Arcadia, LA. Rev. Perry Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to services, starting at 11:00 a.m.. Era, 97, of Arcadia, went to Heaven on Friday, December 30, 2016. She was born on July 9, 1919 in Claiborne Parish to Christopher Columbus and Mattie Mae Sanders. She was married to Oscar Ross Methvin on December 24, 1938. She was a long time member of Mt. Mariah United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her children; Sandra Kay Melder and Bonnie Onita Stephenson (husband Mike); grandchildren, Sonya Short (husband Tracy), Shawn Stephenson (wife April), and Alisa Said (husband Bob); great-grandchildren, Isaac Woodson, Abigail Woodson, Ross Stephenson, Kendall Stephenson, Caleb Woodson, Evan Short and Ryan Short; siblings Joseph Sanders (wife Wilma) and Elouise Sanders. Pallbearers will be Donnie Bellew, Robby Byrd, Keith Cook, Paul Cook, Lee Daniel, Elisha Payne IV, Chris Sanders and David Sanders. The family wishes to thank her caretakers Shirley Gipson, Gladys Manuel, Maxine Prejean and Mary Dison for their support. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Mariah United Methodist Church.
