SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Ernest Davis Kirkham, 79, will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Brother Joey Ketchum will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Kirkham was born December 2, 1936 in Campti, LA to Wilmur and Lizzie Kirkham. He passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at home. He was a resident of Shreveport, where he retired to after serving in the US Army.
Mr. Kirkham proudly served 21 years in the military and did two tours of duty in Vietman. He toured the country as a charter bus driver for Kerrville Tours/Coach USA for 25 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home. He also enjoyed many meals and fellowship at RJ's Restaurant. He would always bring a treat from RJ's for his beloved dog, Stacy. Ernest loved riding his "Putt-Putt" with friends and the Good News Cruisers whenever the weather was good.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida; his parents, and brothers Douglas and Robert. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ouida "Betty" Reynolds and her husband, Dick; Candice "Candy" Cotten and her husband, Richard; sister, Myra Stobaugh; grandsons, Matthew Reynolds and wife, Tina, Michael Reynolds and Ashley Waters, Christopher Calhoun and wife, Jessica, Corey Calhoun and fiancé Katelyn Yates, and Ryan Cotten; six great-grandsons, Caden, Jacen, Jax, Lucas, Alex and Austin, along with numerous extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank Willis-Knighton Hospice of Louisiana for their assistance and kindness in caring for Ernest.
Honoring Ernest as pallbearers will be Matthew Reynolds, Christopher Calhoun, Corey Calhoun, Ryan Cotton, David Losey, and Clay Calhoun.
Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Lawrence.
